A clip of Joslin Smith’s mother, Kelly crying in court has gone viral…but the public has little to no sympathy for her.
The Saldana Bay mom-of-three – who has been described as the “mastermind” behind her child’s disappearance – has been charged with kidnapping and human trafficking.
Kelly and two co-accused, her boyfriend Jacquin Appollis and friend Steveno Van Rhyn, appeared in the Vredenburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 13 March.
They turned down a bail application and will remain in custody until 13 May.

Unlike her previous court appearance, where she appeared “cold as ice,” Joslin Smith’s mother, Kelly, was visibly upset.
Moments before being led back into custody, the 33-year-old burst out in tears. She was also seen speaking to family members, who had gathered in the court gallery.
However, her show of emotion received no sympathy from the public.

Before her emotional breakdown in court, Joslin Smith’s mother has been criticised over the last few weeks for showing little emotion for her missing child.
In a Facebook Live with Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie earlier this month, Kelly defended her actions.
When asked by Gayton why she never publicly cried over Joslin’s disappearance, Kelly responded: “I must have the strength to find her.
“If you think I am guilty, then you are making a big mistake. That’s my child. You don’t know how I feel.
She continued: “My pillow is wet. That’s how much I cry. I don’t go around crying all day. I have two more children who are alive. All that crying can make me commit suicide.
“I feel broken like an egg that no one can mend. I just want to find Joslin and hold my child in my arms.”
