Be that Instagram account everyone wants to follow with these easy hacks for a great-looking feed.
Many are eager to build and develop their presence on the app as it is still one of the biggest and fastest-growing social media platforms.
Behind every account is a personality with a voice. It’s also a place to connect and engage with individuals without having to write a lengthy blog post.
One important thing to keep in mind is that you do not need to be a well-known celebrity or photographer to attract more followers.
Here are a few hacks to create a consistent and visually pleasing Instagram account.
Your Instagram handle, or username, and profile picture should give clues to tell people what you and your account are all about.
For example, if you would like to run a travel diary on Instagram, your profile picture should show you travelling. Your username should be related to travelling, for example @YoungAdventures.
Alternatively, if you are looking for something simple, try using your first name and surname. You can’t have a space in the username, so use an underscore between.
Remember, your username and name are two separate things on Instagram: The username is what people can find by inserting the “at sign”: @.
Your Instagram bio is usually the first thing people read after clicking on your handle, therefore it is important to keep things fresh.
You only have 150 characters for your Instagram bio, so be careful and do not compromise on your message.
The “Name” field in your Instagram bio is searchable, so include keywords in your “Name” field to highlight what your Instagram profile or business is about.
This enhances your chances of appearing in Instagram’s Explore page if anyone searches for those keywords.
This simple trick makes your account look professional and organised.
Getting the right spacing for your bio could make all the difference. This one might take some trial and error to get right, but the results will really stand out.
If you have other social media accounts or an online platform you would like to drive traffic to, copy and paste the link in your bio under “Website”.
To do this, include @ before the account name; users will be able to click it to learn more. This could be useful if you are managing more than one account or are an ambassador for a company.
It is important to try and make your feed and posts look appealing. Keep it simple but original.
Also put time aside to plan your Instagram feed in advance and post when your followers are most active to receive ample likes and comments.
Think of your Instagram Stories Highlights as your portfolio — you want to share your best content up front and centre on your profile page.
In addition, your Instagram Stories icons can help to draw in your audience and entice them to tap through to see more of your story posts.
Make sure that your highlights match your overall Instagram aesthetic, colour scheme or theme. Also let your audience know what your highlight is about by adding a short title.
