Inanda: Riddled with crime

According to SAPS crime statistics for 2023, the areas of Inanda is one of the most crime-ridden areas of Southern Africa.

The area ranked higher in gun-related crimes and reported sexual assault cases than anywhere else in the country. Shootings might be on the increase, and there have already been several news reports of shootouts around and in this town for the year.

Crimes in inanda for 2023

Several serious shootings and gun-battles have been reported for Inanda this year.

According to The South African website, a suspected ‘cop-killer’ was shot dead in a confrontation with SAPS members in January this year.

It’s not the only event of its kind for the area. News also revealed a shootout with poilice that left two suspects fatally wounded, as reported by The South African.

It’s not just shootouts with the police that have made the news, but mass-shootings in the area. News from the SAPS website also revealed a mass shooting with several dead in October this year.

This has all contributed to higher overall crime rates in Inanda, which reflects in the 2023 Crime Statistics.
