It turns out a lot of people have been incorrectly storing their tomato sauce. Here’s the right way to do it — according to Heinz.

For years now, there has been a big debate about where people should be storing their favourite condiment, tomato sauce. While many believe that it should be stored inside then refrigerator, others have argued that it would be just fine stored inside the grocery cupboard behind the packs of noodles and almost finished box of biscuits.

In fact, a recent study revealed that almost 50% of people believe that tomato sauce should definitely be stored in the cupboard. Here’s what Heinz has to say on the matter.

Everyone loves a good bottle of tomato sauce but clearly not everyone knows how to store one.

Famous tomato sauce company Heinz recently conducted a study to see where everyone is storing their tomato sauce and the results were surprising.

According to Jacaranda FM, 53.6% of the 2,342 people who voted believe ketchup should be stored in the fridge. 46.4%, however, believe it should be stored in the cupboard.

In the comment section, many argued that the condiment is found on the shelves in shopping stores and ergo should be okay for the cupboard at home.

“Why is it not in the fridge at the supermarkets then?” one person asked.

Heinz clears the air

Despite a lot of back and forth, Heinz has advised customers to store theirs inside the fridge.

“FYI: Ketchup. goes. in. the. fridge!!!” the company wrote in a tweet.

Despite this declaration, many social media users have insisted that they will be storing theirs inside their cupboards like they’ve been doing.
