It’s remarkable to think that more than 26-million South Africans will receive SASSA grant payouts for 2024. Even more remarkable that the monthly stipend for old-age pensions, care dependents, etc, makes up 11% of government’s annual budget.

A big portion of the SASSA grant payouts for 2024 will be made up by the South African Social Security Agency’s Social Relief of Distress (SRD) fund. This constitutes R350 each month to those who have ZERO income at all, and the SRD grant has been successfully extended till March 2025.

2024 SASSA GRANT INCREASES

- SASSA Old-Age Pension Grants payout R2 090 (60- and 74-years old).

- SASSA Child Support Grant R510.
- Foster Child Grant R1 130.
- Child Care Dependency Grant R2 090.
- SASSA War Veterans Grant R2 110.
- Grant-In-Aid from SASSA increased to R510.
Each of these SASSA grant payouts for 2024 represents a R10 increase, except for the Child Support Grant Top-Up which is unchanged at R250 for 2024. The SRD stipend of R350 has also not increased in 2024.
