A South African expat – musician JP Storm – has posted a video about why he believes cleaning dirty toilets abroad is “better” than his former life back home.

Storm – who uses the TikTok handle @kleinkosieq – immigrated to Germany four years ago. He is the lead singer of the band Six5Zero.

EXPAT WOULD RATHER CLEAN DIRTY TOILETS THAN LIVE IN SA

In a video titled: “Still better than to work for a R4000 salary in South Africa”, JP Storm posted a video of him cleaning a dirty toilet in his new adoptive country of Germany

According to the expat – who claimed to have previously earned R4500 as a Spur manager in SA – he does this as a part-time means to afford paying for his instruments and studio equipment. He also performs with his band in the country.

As a “technical supervisor” at a supermarket, he is tasked with washing the floors and cleaning the parking lot and toilets three times a week.

Storm  – who is the lead singer of rock band Six5Zero – is married to a German wife and is in the country on a “family reunification visa.”

The couple previously lived in South Africa and relocated to Germany after losing their incomes during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Despite now cleaning dirty toilets on a part-time basis, Storm stated that he is happy and grateful for his new life abroad. He claimed that the weather, culture, and massive tax on salaries were drawbacks, but he insisted “it’s still better than South Africa.”

In other videos, the expat criticises the SA government, high levels of crime and corruption back home.

When one follower asked how salaries compared, he responded: “It looks better than what people in South Africa earn.” “The money is good”, he claimed, adding that he earns “15 Euros (R310) per hour” for his part-time job.

Responding to critics, the musician said: “The people that say we’re running away don’t have children or responsibilities.”

“Call us what you want, it doesn’t bother us…we don’t have loadshedding, and we don’t stress about people breaking into our homes. We don’t have those problems.”

He added: “You’re just mad at yourself because you couldn’t come.”
