Every day, hundreds of South Africans flood social media with complaints about the ever-increasing price of food and other everyday items. A Tweep has once again headed to social media to complain about the price of deodorant which now costs over R100 at certain stores around South Africa.

The post received hundreds of comments from South Africans who are worried about their futures and not being able to afford any of their needs soon.

R110 deodorant shocks SA shoppers

Over the last few years, the cost of living has skyrocketed — not only in South Africa but across the world.

Here in SA however, the employment rate is so high that many families are absolutely struggling to make ends meet.

The ever-increasing prices have meant that people can no longer afford their favourite products and instead have been forced to make a number of changes to their shortened shopping list.

It looks like deodorant has joined the list.

Taking to Twitter, one user shared the price of a certain brand of deodorant which now goes for R110.

“How did we get here?” she captioned the post.

The post went viral as many locals headed to the comment section to lament over the cost of living crisis.

Many of them shared their favourite products which they now also can’t afford.

“This is nothing you must see prices for Washing Soap, Handy Andy. Dishwash Liquid and things like Domestos or Jik,” wrote one disgruntled shopper.

Another commented:

“Crime is happening and the competition commission is quiet. They’ll probably issue a peanut penalty much later in the future. After these companies have enjoyed blotted profits for a lengthy period and prices won’t drop. See bread prices.”
