A woman on TikTok has lashed out at Trevor Noah’s final speech on The Daily Show, in which he praised black women for their contribution to society. Her issue with it? He is “known for dating non-black women.”

The South African comedian bid farewell to the show earlier this month after seven years as the host.

In his final episode, Trevor – who is biracial – gave an impassioned speech thanking the people who helped and supported him along the way.

WHAT DID TREVOR NOAH SAY IN HIS FINAL SPEECH?

Earlier this month, Trevor Noah appeared for the final time as host of The Daily Show. In his closing remarks, he took the time to show appreciation for black women around the world.

He said: “This is random for some, but special shoutout to black women. I’ve often been credited with having these grand ideas where people are like, ‘Oh Trevor, you’re so smart.’ And then I’m like, ‘Who do you think teaches me? Who do you think has shaped me, nourished me, and informed me? From my mom, my grand, my aunt, all these women in my life. But then in America as well, I always tell people if you truly want to learn about America, talk to black women.”

“Unlike everybody else, black women cannot afford to f**k around and find out. Black people understand how hard it is when things go bad, especially in America. But any place where black people exist, whether it’s Brazil, whether it’s South Africa, wherever it is. When things go bad, black people know that it gets worse for them. But black women, in particular, they know what s**t is genuine.”

BLACK WOMEN SPEAK OUT

While Trevor Noah’s speech touched many of his female fans; others were not impressed. And it had everything to do with his relationship history of dating white females like Dua Lipa, Minka Kelly, and Jordyn Taylor.

One TikTok user, @thecindynoir, lamented the comedian as “not the first black man to pull this stunt.”

She said in a TikTok video: “There were plenty of black women who heard Trevor Noah’s speech and felt very moved and seen by it. I, however, was not one of them”.

She continued: “It doesn’t feel good coming from black males who are known for not dating black women.

“Because what it is saying is that black male loves and supports black women as his caregiver. Unequally yoked by design where we give more than you can ever give to us in return. A romantic partnership which by design is equally yoked and reciprocal, your love and support towards black women is absent”.

The woman’s views about Trevor Noah and his speech was supported by many other TikTokers…

Pelumi Labiyi: “I love Trevor Noah (I bought the book and went to his concert), but I have to give a side eye to that speech.”

Meggo: “It’s sad because it’s like we are least wanted by anyone. Praised and copied but never picked.”

HollyJSinclair: “The thing that came to mind was; ‘But we aren’t good enough to date though’”

User9010453916260: “As a woman of colour, what you are saying is SO TRUE. As much as we can offer and struggle for our black and brown men, we aren’t their romantic ideal”
