The owner of Antares Bush Camp and Safaris in Phalaborwa, Mel Owtram, told Channel24 that the 59-year-old actor arrives at his helicopter with his security detail and Mission Impossible director every day.

“Tom always walks around the helicopter and does pre-flight checks before climbing in and piloting it himself to the film location.”

“Then anytime between 16:30 and 18:30 he returns and lands in the same spot… The people of Hoedspruit gather in anticipation, waiting for his arrival and the security guards are extremely friendly and chat and even take selfies with the kids,” added Owtram.

IS A MOVE TO SOUTH AFRICA ON THE CARDS?

After one of his shoot days, Tom Cruise was welcomed with a heart drawn in the sand by a Savanna, a young fan of his. When he landed in Hoedspruit, Cruise mingled with some of the residents and even gave them a “Bluetooth” high five.

While speaking to them, he also hinted at moving to South Africa!

“It’s beautiful here. It would be nice to live here permanently,” he said.

“I’m very excited to be here, I’ve been wanting to film here for a very long time,” he added.

“I can’t wait for you to see the new movie.”

HOEDSPRUIT RESIDENT FLASHES AT TOM CRUISE

On Friday 11 February, Gillian Leigh Soames from Hoedspruit spotted Tom Cruise’s chopper from her house. She told Jacaranda FM that she jumped on her desk and lifted her shirt BUT she kept her bra on.

“I was shouting: ‘Hello Thomas! Hello Thomas!’ just joking. And the chopper’s lights flashed back. From there it gained momentum.”

“When he arrived back at his helipad, when he landed, of course, his security contingent was there. I asked permission if I can stand and that a couple of photos and he said: ‘With absolute pleasure, just stay behind the line.’”
