‘The Wife’ actor Kwenzo Pholoba reflects acting role, Qhawe Zulu

Award-winning actor Kwenzo Pholoba recently posted a reflection on his hit Showmax series The Wife on his Instagram page.

Kwenzo Pholoba, a gifted South African actor, talked candidly about his pivotal performance as Qhawe Zulu in the highly regarded television series, “The Wife.”

Directed by Sipho Ndlovu, the series portrays a compelling tale of love, selflessness, and resiliency against the backdrop of a rural Zulu village. Audiences and critics have praised Pholoba’s portrayal of Qhawe, a brave and resolute young man.

The 29-year-old actor, who is well-known for his diverse roles in both theatre and cinema, talked about the difficulties and rewards of playing Qhawe.

Pholoba said that portraying such a complicated character was physically and emotionally taxing but ultimately satisfying. He disclosed that in order to appreciate the depth and authenticity of his character, the part necessitated intensive research and immersion in Zulu culture.

He also took up the People’s Choice Award at the GQ Men of the Year Awards and the Viewers’ Choice Award for Favorite Rising Star at the 2022 DStv Mzansi Awards.

The actor uploaded a clip of one of his The Wife moments. He claimed that when he stumbled upon it, it brought back memories of his struggles and his future plans.

How Kwenzo Pholoba’s acting career began

Kwenzo Pholoba started acting in small-scale drama productions in local theatres after graduating from college. He quickly saw that television was the only way he could fulfil his ambition of becoming a renowned actor.

Given the vast differences between performing for theatre and television, he acknowledged that it was not an easy task. His natural talent for acting, though, made the transition seamless. (klonopin)

Kwenzo had his first appearance on television in Mzansi’s favourite programme, “Imbewu,” where he played a character named Themba. Today, he is most recognised for his role as Qhawe on The Wife.
