“On or about the 4th of July 2023, Carlene Brown De Jongh falsely and unlawfully accused Leslie Jonathan Mampe Jr, a.k.a. Da L.E.S and others, in a widely published post on Instagram of inter alia ‘rape,'” the statement reads.

The rapper said that Carlene’s claims tarnish his name, adding that the allegations made by Carlene “have no foundation and are defamatory, hurtful and wrongful.”

“Da L.E.S is a celebrated public figure whose income is derived from his musical artistry and public influence. The aforementioned statements were intentionally disseminated by Carlene Brown De Jongh and were clearly calculated to slander, humiliate, defame and tarnish his good name and reputation.”

“Da L.E.S categorically denies all the spurious and unfounded allegations contained in the aforesaid post. There exists no justification for such publication of the defamatory allegations due to its truthfulness. Carlene Brown is well aware of the cataclysmic effect and implications it will have on his reputation and income.

“Da L.E.S will seek all legal remedies to ensure he maintains his innocence. A criminal case of defamation has already been instituted and is under investigation by the South African Police Services,” the statement concludes.
