Mzansi is still in shock after finding out 35-year-old rapper, AKA, was shot and killed in Durban yesterday, on 10 February, on his way to perform at Yugo on the continuation of his birthday, which was on 28 January.
AKA’S LAST DAY IN DURBAN AND FINAL MOMENTS
Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA, has been celebrating his 35th birthday with close friends and his rapper girlfriend, Nadia Nakai, in Johannesburg since his birthday weekend last month.
Yesterday, he was scheduled to appear at Yugo in Durban.
As he posted about the event on his timeline, he wrote,
“AYO!!!! THE CELEBRATIONS 🎉 CONTINUE IN DUBANE THIS FRIDAY @yugo_durban 🎂”
RIP: SUPAMEGA’S LAST DAY IN DURBAN
AKA went on Instagram Live to announce that he would be at Yugo, a luxury champagne and tapas social club in Durban.
He could be heard saying,
“Catch me tonight at Yugo, baby. Dubane [Durban], we’re on the way.”
In another clip, the All Eyes On Me hitmaker posted from an airline and followed up with an announcement telling his fans about his upcoming album.
After touching down in Kwazulu-Natal, SupaMega posted again about the birthday celebration and then went live on Instagram from a gym in the city as he prepared for the night.
He pinned his location and proved to fans that he was indeed in the Durban.
He then pinned his location at @Brydgroomflorida where he could be seen in the video having the time of his life at the barbershop. He shared a video initially posted by @Sasodt, who had also been with him at the barbershop. The video was captioned,
“Broskie [is] back home.”
Next up, AKA posted from a restaurant. In the video, SupaMega showed that the party was starting for him and his buddies as they could be seen having drinks.
In his last post, the rapper took a photo of a seafood platter and pinned his location at Wish On Florida, where he died as he walked out of the restaurant.
HOW AKA CELEBRATED HIS BIRTHDAY IN GAUTENG BEFORE HEADING TO DURBAN
The award winner rapper and another man died at the scene, and two murder dockets were open and under investigation, eNCA reported.
Almost two weeks ago, SupaMega took his fans down memory lane on his socials as he posted throwbacks of different moments in his life, from being a young boy to his come up, and up to his most recent days as a father to Kairo Forbes, who he had with DJ Zinhle Jiyane, TimesLIVE reported.
In another post, the rapper shared with his fans that he was unable to respond to all birthday wishes as the previous night had been too “lit”. He had visited two clubs and shared that the celebrations would continue in Pretoria.
In a grateful post, he wrote,
“THANK YOU for all your birthday wishes … the love and appreciation is overwhelming. From Family, Friends and Fans, just know, I don’t take any of this for granted anymore.”
