TshisaLIVE reports that former Idols SA contestant Brenden Praise’s Mhlalamhlala album has scored him a nomination at this year’s South African Music Awards (SAMA) in the Best Contemporary Faith Album.

The publication adds that this will be Praise’s second SAMA nomination after his platinum selling record Joy Joy with Black Motion in 2018.

Praise tells the publication that it’s tough to predict what resonates and what doesn’t, but we knew we were doing something that has never been done when they were recording his latest album Mhlalamhlala.

“The album is essential, the Tsonga Hymn Book reimagined in 2023 and so it spread the gospel in its purest form. People are multifaceted and if you’re a spiritual human being it doesn’t matter which space you’re in, it will eventually be evident. So I think over the years my music has become more what I believe in.”

The talented musician Brenden Praise, who was a runner up for Idols SA season nine says life after the singing competition hasn’t been easy.

He describes his music journey since Idols as challenging and says it’s never easy to find yourself when a lot of people are telling you who you are, so it sometimes requires stillness in the form of failure to be able to hear your own voice.

Praise celebrated six years of marital bliss to his content creator wife Nompumelelo “Mpoomy” Ledwaba earlier this year.

The pair, who have always maintained that they are grateful to God for their journey, held a traditional wedding as a celebration for their love in 2021.

The musician took to social media to share a picture of him and Ledwaba during their wedding six years ago.

“Can’t believe it’s been six years. It would have been enough to spend a moment with you, to spend a lifetime is truly a blessing,” he wrote.
