South Africans have been left truly saddened by the passing of local radio host Mark Pilgrim. The popular media personality lost his battle with cancer earlier today after keeping fans updated with his health issues on social media over the last ten months.

One of Mark’s favourite mottos, “don’t stop believing’ is a lovely way of remembering his strength and refusal to give up — even when things seem hopeless.

Mark Pilgrim leaves behind wonderful words of hope

Hundreds of people have flocked to social media to share messages of condolence with the family of Mark Pilgrim.

The veteran radio host lost his battle with a lengthy stage 4 lung cancer battle.

Before his passing, the 53-year-old kept his many fans updated with his progress by sharing posts about his treatments and how his body was taking everything.

He also had a beautiful motto “ don’t stop believing” which was a huge sign of his strength and ability to stay positive.

The star almost always added the motto to his posts as a reminder to his fans to stay hopeful.

A true beacon of hope

In a video posted on his YouTube page that was dedicated to sharing his progress, the star once again proved himself to be a beacon of hope.

“In Feb this year, I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Despite the prognosis, I am defying the odds and in my mind believe I am CURED,” he said.

In another post he wrote:

“It’s a journey. It’s not easy. Baby steps. Still have the end goal in sight where myself, Adrienne and the girls are walking on the beach with our future golden retriever :grinning::pray::skin-tone-2::sparkles:
