“Ziyakhala” – a phrase made famous by former Ukhozi FM presenter Ngizwe Mchunu during the 2021 July unrest – is now being used against him after reports of a split from his third wife, Nqobile “Floda” Mthimkhulu.

The media personality – who also presented the SABC 1 traditional music show, Roots – is now a husband-of-two. His other wives are Siphelele Nxumalo and Lindiwe Khuzwayo.

Floda, who is also a musician, confirmed their separation to ZiMoja though not revealing when the split happened. The former couple tied the knot in 2015.

“I’m very single.” Floda told the publication.

“I really just want to focus on myself, work and play my part in the artistic world. I wasted way too many years focused on the wrong things just to please people. I’m not that girl anymore,” she explains.

“It’s peaceful for me because I have aspirations and goals to achieve. So, all my energy can now go into that.

In October last year, his second wife dropped the bombshell on TikTok live, saying her ancestors no longer want Mchunu as her husband and she, therefore, has to remarry.

“People do not understand how ancestors operate, they assume I said I want a second husband. This is not the case. My ancestors have been telling me for a long time that they are looking for another man for me so that I can leave Macingwane because he is not supportive of my spiritual gifts.

“I have told him about my ancestors’ grievances and the fact that they are finding me another man because he is not supportive,” she said.

Social media users have been trolling Mchunu since the news, as many replied with his popular phrase “ziyakhala”.

Meanwhile, some attributed the split to the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) due to the self-proclaimed President of the Amabhinca Nation’s feud with the political party’s leader, Julius Malema.

Last month, Mchunu dared Malema to come to KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) , telling him that he runs the province. Mchunu was referring to the upcoming EFF manifesto scheduled for 10 February this year at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

He doubled down on his utterances this week, saying Malema will enter Mosses Mabhida over his dead body.
