Awkward! Did Tyla refuse to allow Zizi Kodwa to hold her Grammy?
Tyla Seethal has responded to allegations that she blatantly snubbed Minster Zizi Kodwa in public during her hero’s welcome recently.

Grammy Award winner Tyla Seethal has responded to rumours that she snubbed Minister Zizi Kodwa during her hero’s welcome at OR Tambo International Airport on Saturday, 30 March.
TYLA RESPONDS TO CLAIMS SHE DID NOT WANT ZIZI KODWA TO HOLD HER GRAMMY
Some people seem to believe Tyla and Zizi Kodwa are budding heads, others may even think that maybe the 22-year-old is simply just not a fan of the African National Congress party entirely. However, this seems not to be the case. All this comes after the Water hitmaker was seen in a viral video seemingly snubbing the Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture recently.
Tyla finally returned to her home soil for the first time since December. Earlier this year, she made history in the United States by becoming the youngest African to ever win a Grammy Award.
In a clip during her hero’s welcome at the international airport in Johannesburg, the minister can be seen seemingly attempting to pose with Tyla along with her Grammy. Facing the Amapiano star, as seen in the clip, it appeared Kodwa also tried to get his hands on the shiny gold award to get the perfect snap.
However, all that was cut short as Tyla simply turned her back towards Kodwa and instead made eye contact with the cameras which were positioned in front of her.
Taking to her timelines, Tyla has since denied the allegation that she snubbed the minister. “The minister told me to raise my award higher And I did!!. Thank you again to all my supporters who came to give me a warm welcome home!!” the singer wrote.
‘WATER’ HITMAKER BAGS NEW AWARD
Tyla and Zizi Kodwa were also spotted at the South African Cultural and Creative Industry Awards. The Amapiano star won the Best International Act Award at the award ceremony.
She was seen on stage, accepting her latest award and was introduced on stage by the minister Kodwa as well as Grammy winner Wouter Kellerman.
“I am so happy to be home. The last time I was home was Christmas. I am so happy to be here celebrating all creatives. I am so proud of all creatives and Amapiano music. I am so happy to be one of the artists to represent us while we are overseas,” Tyla said on stage.
According to the South African Government Official Information and Services, the award ceremony is an initiative that affords an opportunity to celebrate South African creatives. Kodwa was also quoted saying that the award ceremony “amongst several reasons” is “intended to intentionally lift up, support the creative and cultural riches that join people together, nourish the spirit, liven up communities, inspire and create a vibrant nation, to also benchmark ourselves against the best in the world as we do them, to create a truly special moment.”
EWN reported that Tyla has been nominated at the Metro FM Music Awards 2024 in the following categories: Song of the Year, Best Female Artist, Best Music Video, Best Viral Challenge and Artist of the Year.
