World-famous fashion designer Donatella Versace has congratulated South African-born singer Tyla Seethal after she won her first Grammy in America on Sunday, 4 February.

DONATELLA VERSACE CONGRATULATES GRAMMY WINNER TYLA

Tyla recently made history as the youngest South African Grammy winner. The 22-year-old walked away with a Grammy in the category for Best African Music Performance on Sunday.

She bagged the award at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards premiere ceremony, which was hosted at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Her hypnotic and seductive summer anthem, Water, is said to have made it to the top five in dozens of countries and ended 2023 as the most-streamed Afrobeats song on Spotify, BBC reported.

Taking to Instagram recently, Donatella Versace praised Tyla for her Grammy achievement, saying she is excited to watch her journey.

“Tyla, you embody everything Versace stands for – power, creativity and confidence. I’m so excited to watch your journey as you conquer the world. Congratulations on an amazing night and winning your first Grammy!” Versace wrote on her Instagram feed.

Donatella Versace also posted a video of Tyla accepting her Grammy. “What? Oh my gosh, guys, this is crazy! I never thought I’d say I won a Grammy at 22 years old,” Tyla could be heard saying on stage during her acceptance speech.

“Last year God decided to change my whole life… Thank you so much to God, to my team, my family,” the singer continued.

“I know my mum is crying somewhere in here. Thank you to The Recording Academy for this category… I won a Grammy!” the award-winning singer added before walking off stage.

Aside from Tyla, other first-time Grammy winners this year were Miley Cyrus, Zack Bryan, Victoria Monét, Lil Durk, and Brandy Clark, Forbes reported.
