Five out of the seven suspects linked in the murder case of AKA have stepped inside the dock this morning. Tony Forbes was also spotted entering the court.

His son, slain rapper AKA whose real name is Kiernan Jarryd Forbes was gunned down in Durban on Florida Road on the evening of 10 February 2023. Celebrity chef Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane was also shot and killed alongside the rapper.

“As a father, I have to give credit to the team, they have worked extremely hard,” Tony said during an interview with eNCA.

The rapper’s father shared that he hasn’t been to Durban since the morning after AKA was murdered.

“It’s important for me to be here to support the process and hear the facts. It is also a part of my closure as opposed to not being involved. I also want to see who did this,” he added.

RAPPER’S FATHER SPEAKS OUT AHEAD OF COURT APPEARANCE

Tony Forbes admitted that he and the family were informed about the course of the investigation for the past 12 months. He added that he is happy that the court proceedings have finally begun.

“It’s been a steady process, it’s been a long build-up. I think the fact that there are now seven people in custody is a very important milestone that’s been reached.”

“The journey started the night that Kiernan passed. I was in Durban the next morning… I am very grateful for where we are and we can get closer to the truth,” he added.

Although this stage may be a victory, Tony said it’s still sort of a beginning as the mastermind behind the assassination of the rapper still has not been identified.
