Roast of Minnie Dlamini: Sodi ‘affair’, R1m lobola and more on the cards?

The Roast of Minnie Dlamini could revisit a few of her ‘skeletons’, including Khune’s ‘R1 million lobola’ to her ‘affair’ with Edwin Sodi.

Another celebrity in the firing line after the announcement of The Showmax Roast of Minnie Dlamini, set to air in April 2024…

The media personality will be the target of a no-holds barred star-studded grilling.


The Showmax Roast of Minnie Dlamini – not to be confused with the Comedy Central Roast  –  will be filmed on April 5 and then air on the streaming platform on April 26.

The filming will take place at the Laugh Africa Comedy Festival from 5-7 April at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The celebrity panel of roasters have yet to be announced.

Speaking at the announcement of the event this week, Minnie claimed she had a “thick skin.”

She said: “I’m from a family of roasters, and I’ve always loved comedy, and it’s always been my thing. I’ve always been a supporter of incredible comedians… so saying ‘yes’ to something like this was an easy call to make”.

She added: “Roasts bring a different side to a lot of celebrities, and yes, they do get wild and out of hand, but I think I’m ready for what my panel of roasters plan to bring at me.” 


Here are five things we can expect in the roast of Minnie Dlamini.

Divorce and spousal support to ex

In 2022, Minnie announced her separation from ex-husband Quinton Jones. According to Sunday World, the mom-of-one pays R10 000 in monthly spousal support cheques.

Khune’s R1 million lobola 

Minnie and Kaizer Chief’s Itumeleng Khune dated from 2011-2014. According to the rumour mill, the soccer star paid a whopping R1 million in lobola for her, a claim she has since denied.

Longstanding feud with Bonang Matheba

Minnie and Bonang have been long pitted as industry rivals and have even claimed to be “100% not friends”.

In 2015, Minnie told Grazia magazine of Bonang: “I want people to know that I don’t like talking about other personalities in the industry. That being said, Bonang and I are one hundred percent not friends. However, we’re not enemies either, and I respect her as a colleague”.

Rumoured relationship with Edwin Sodi

Celeb blogger Musa Khawula’s claims she had an alleged extramarital affair with businessman Edwin Sodi could be revisited in the roast of Minnie Dlamini.

Both Minnie and Edwin have denied the rumours.
