‘Scandal!’ star Nqobile Khumalo bags role in ‘Red Ink’

Talented actress Nqobile Khumalo who portrays the role of Hlengiwe in ‘Scandal!’ has secured the role of Lucy in ‘Red Ink’.

Fan-favourite actress Nqobile Khumalo who previously starred in e.tv’s Scandal! has joined Showmax’s drama series Red Ink.

NQOBILE KHUMALO: NEW ROLE

Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela reports that the Scandal! and House of Zwide star Nqobile Khumalo will portray the role of Lucy in Red Ink.

“Nqobile Khumalo leads new series Khumalo plays Lucy in the upcoming Showmax series produced by Bomb Productions,” tweeted Mphela.

Khumalo currently portrays the character of Hlengiwe in e.tv’s most-watched soapie, Scandal! and has also starred in Broken Vows as Zandile, Fatal Seduction as Precious and many more. 

Bona reports that the upcoming novel is “set in Johannesburg, has a distinctly local flavour and brings the city to life through. The novel takes readers through this journey and “all its contrasts and contradictions,” as her life takes a dramatic turn. 

BACKGROUND OF ‘RED INK’

Phil Mphela reports that the show is produced by BOMB Productions and is an adaptation of a novel written by Angela Makholwa. Showmax will release the new eight-part mini-series in February 2024, adds Phil Mphela.

“The gritty and shocking novel revolves around a “young, beautiful and ambitious public relations consultant and ex-journalist who receives an unexpected call from a convicted serial killer,” adds Bona.

The upcoming series will feature Mzansi’s A-list stars such as Bonko Khoza, Yonda Thomas, Bongile Mantsai, Abdul Khoza and many more.
