Rapper Rikhado Makhado – popularly known as Riky Rick – had long considered suicide, many have claimed following his tragic passing two years ago.
According to his “Cotton eaters” – his legion of fans – he even left signs of taking his own life on various social media posts.
The award-winning hitmaker ended his life on 23 February 2022 at just 34 years old.
RIKY RICK REMEMBERED ON ANNIVERSARY
Two years ago, South Africans woke up to the devastating news of Riky Rick’s death.
According to Sunday World, the hitmaker’s lifeless body was discovered early in the morning in his music studio near his Johannesburg home. The star had been suffering from severe depression, his family later confirmed.
On the anniversary of his death, the Riky Rick Foundation remembered its founder by quoting his famous lyric: “We never die, we multiply.”
SIGNS HE WAS CONSIDERING IT?
Following his death, fans claimed that Riky Rick had contemplated taking his own life. And this was supposedly evident in various social media posts.
Hours before his suicide, the rapper tweeted a solemn post that read: “I’ll return a stronger man. This land is still my home.”
It was his last-ever tweet.
Two weeks before his death, fans believe Riky gave them a big clue about his plans. In an Instagram post, the father-of-two shared a look at his Cotton Fest pass in the form of a student card. The “expiry date” was listed as 23 February – the day he died.

On Valentine’s Day, Riky Rick posted a sweet tribute to his partner Bianca, whom he began dating in 2010. In the clip, Riky was seen dancing with Bianca to the tune of his love song Sondela.
“I love my chick”, he captioned the clip.
Days later, Sunday World. leaked a suicide letter from Riky to his spouse.
It read: “Dear Bianca, this pain is too much. I don’t want you to blame yourself for my life being unbearable.”
“The pain I feel is too much to deal with. The voices in my head have never gone away. I wish I was stronger, but I am not. Please forgive me. I love you so much. Be happy. Smile. Everything is okay now.”
