From sipping expensive bottles to hosting ‘house parties’ – Mbabane locals reveal how two of the seven suspects spent their money in Eswatini.

In late February, the South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed the arrests of seven suspects linked to the murder of AKA and Tibz. Five of the seven recently appeared before the courts, with the two also set to appear before the Manzini Magistrate’s court on 5 March in Eswatini.
Over the weekend, reports confirmed that the suspects received R800 000 hours before the hit.
HOW AKA’S MURDER SUSPECTS SPENT THEIR MONEY
Sunday World has it that a payment of R800 000 was made to Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni’s First National Bank (FNB) account. However, despite the reports, the police have not disclosed who transferred the money into Gwabeni’s account.
However, media reports in Eswatini have it that there is transactional evidence of the payments. The exact amounts disbursed to the suspects are unknown.
With Mzansi yet to connect the dots about who deposited the money, neighbours of the two suspects have since opened up about the behaviour of the two suspects.
The two suspects reportedly moved to Mbabane in November 2023. Local policing officers in Mbabane revealed that the two suspects always kept their gates locked. However, they hosted parties and invited several women to their hideout. The house had quickly become known for hosting parties, according to locals.
Reports have it that they drank expensive bottles and usually withdrew their money from local cash-out points (mobile money). Reports have it that there were many people at their residences during the festive season, and they seemingly splurged huge amounts of money.
Apart from that, little is known about the lifestyle of the suspects before moving to Mbabane. Upon arriving at the hideout, the media couldn’t see anything significant since the house was empty.
EXTRADITION PROCESS
The Royal Eswatini Police Services has given an update on the two suspects’ extradition process. The police confirmed that the suspects would appear before the courts before deportation.
