Not for the first time, Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus has used his X account to troll his opponents. And in the firing line this week is South Africa’s test series opponent – Ireland.

The longtime rugby rivals will face off ‘in two test matches on 6 and 13 July in Pretoria’s Loftus and Durban’s Kings Park Stadium, respectively.

RASSIE ERASMUS FOLLOWS IRELAND RUGBY TEAM ON X

On his popular X account, Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus intentionally follows only one account: his rivals, the Irish national team.

And troll-worthy move has not gone unnoticed by rugby fans.

During the Rugby World Cup, Rassie followed and followed several opponents, including Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand, and England.

DOES RASSIE HATE THE IRISH?

Meanwhile, Rassie Erasmus has shut down claims that he “hates” the Irish or that the Springboks have a “score to settle,” given their history with their rivals.

He said in a press conference this week: “I think probably from their side there is unfinished business in that they want to get to number one. We don’t talk like that. We chat about how they performed in the URC and European Cup and we pick our teams accordingly to see the players who we think can do the job for us on Saturday.

He continued: “We train really hard and we try to stay in our reality, and that is that we are playing against a team at home that has beaten us. All the games were really close, and they deserved all the wins.

Rassie cheekily added: “But there is never a score to settle. I’d rather take the World Cup – two World Cups – and a British and Irish Lions series, and take the three losses, but we never go out to lose. We definitely didn’t pick this team to try and lose.”

HE’S IN YOUR HEAD!

Meanwhile, Rassie Erasmus has taken a playful dig at the Irish with a tweet teasing the Springboks test match on home turf.

He tweeted from his popular X account over the weekend: “The guys and ladies coming to Loftus, trust me, it will be special! You will definitely hear and feel the passionate support of the Irish fans – it’s amazing, from my experience! But also can’t wait for them to hear how passionate SA fans are!

He added: “It’s going to be a lekka day with small margins between the teams! No doubt the fan rivalry will spice up the game!”

Hilariously Rassie tweeted a clip of the crowd at Loftus chanting a line from the “Rassie remix”, that says: “He’s in your head!”
