Could this be the first customer-owned Rolls-Royce Spectre in SA? The twilight purple beast was spotted taking a spin in Johannesburg.

No doubt petrolheads were left drooling after a photo of a 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre made rounds on social media.

The photo has gained thousands of comments and reactions since it dropped on the internet.

Taking to Instagram, Zero2turbo shared the photo and tagged Ryan Naidoo in the caption. He posted, “A poignant reminder of South Africa’s socioeconomic divide. An R18 million Twilight Purple Rolls-Royce Spectre snapped silently, wafting around Melrose Arch in Johannesburg by @ryan__naidoo.”

Photos of the car have been making rounds on social media, and many are trying to connect the dots about the owner. However, Mzansi was more than convinced that this was the same Rolls-Royce that had hogged headlines in 2023.

However, could this be the first Spectre that was air-freighted to South Africa in 2023? Taking to Instagram, famous car import Daytona posted, “First Spectre delivery in Africa! Congrats to our amazing customer. I couldn’t think of a better brand ambassador for the first car! We wish you many happy electric miles in your new beauty.”

The car is topping trends barely a few weeks after a Rolls-Royce Spectre demo car was spotted in South Africa. Surprisingly, the cars share the same colour. Could this be the same car or not?

Well, car enthusiasts were more than convinced that the two were different cars. The demo car had fixed foreign number plates. However, few A-listers had a test drive of the first Rolls-Royce electric car in South Africa.

One of the guests invited to the test drives was Wicknell Chivayo. However, Chivayo is also arguably one of the few Rolls-Royce Spectre owners in Africa. He also has an impressive fleet of Rolls-Royces, including the Ghost and Wraith models.

In 2023, Rolls-Royce had a performance test of the 2024 Spectre model in Cape Town. The prototype was in South Africa for hot-weather testing in two regions: Augrabies in the Northern Cape and Franschhoek in the Western Cape.

However, this is seemingly the third Rolls-Royce Spectre to be spotted in SA. Against the photos, many have been trying to connect the dots about the price. However, the car has a base price tag of R10 million in several dealerships around South Africa.
