‘Our haven of memories’: Konka Soweto set to close its doors

Popular nightclub Konka has announced that it will be closing its doors in Soweto in May 2024. The nightclub revealed the news through a statement on its official social media handles.
Against the news, Konka Soweto has been trending. The nightclub quickly became the playground for the rich and famous over the years.

However, the nightclub revealed that there will be an epic farewell-themed ‘The Season Finale’ at the establishment, which will run from 18 February until May 2024.
Part of the now viral statement reads, “As we stand on the verge of a new chapter, reflecting on a great era and journey that followed, Konka Soweto, our haven of memories and shared experiences, have grown beyond our wildest dreams, and it’s all thanks to you.’

The statement continued, “With bittersweet sentiments, we announce our farewell to Soweto. Join us for ‘The season finale’ at Konka Soweto from 18 February until May 2024. This isn’t goodbye; rather, it marks the beginning of something special. In the summer of 2024, Konka will open its new home.”
The nightclub also announced it will focus on crafting experiential lifestyles and outdoor events. A list of events has since been said to be on the cards, including Thaba Echo in March.

RUMOURED NEW LOCATION
This is not the first time the club has closed its doors. In recent years, it has closed its doors several times for renovations. Against the news, fans were more than convinced its new location might be in Sandton.
The nightclub has yet to share more details about its new location.
