South African media personality Ntsiki Mazwai sat alongside social media sensation Lasizwe Dambuza and actress Bahumi Mhlongo on Newzroom Afrika this week. The unlikely pair were brought on to the show to discuss local politics and the economy.

It would appear her encounter with the YouTube star was a very unpleasant on after she headed X (formerly Twitter) to complain about Lasizwe’s lack of respect.

According to the poet and activist, the influencer disrespected her by calling her by her name on national television. Many in the comment section weighed in on the matter.

Ntsiki Mazwai blasts Lasizwe for not calling her aunty

South African poet and human rights activist Ntsiki Mazwai is not one to mince her words.

She is always telling it like she thinks it is and isn’t afraid of making enemies along the way.

Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) this week, the podcaster slammed South African content creator and reality TV star Lasizwe Dambuza.

The pair joined Newzroom Afrika‘s Iman Rappetti as they discussed the South African economy, politics and how they are using their influence to impact public opinion.

While the discussion went off without a hitch, it would appear there was some beef boiling beneath the surface for Ntsiki who headed online to blast Lasizwe.

According to her tweets, Lasizwe should’ve been more respectful and not referred to her by her first name.

Harshly, she added how she would “die” if she had a child like him.

“The is child calling me by name is distasteful and I would die if I had a child like this…I would die. Uyadelela and it ain’t cute,” Mazwai wrote.

It would appear she expected him to call her aunty or aunt as a sign of “respect.”

Mzansi weighs in

In the comment section, many shared their thoughts on the matter. Some pointed out that Lasziwe is from a younger generation.

“Ntsiki Mazwai deserves much more respect than this balderdash, you can not have Lasizwe and Ntsiki in the same conversation, especially on topical issues such as this, one is Gungho and passionate, while the other is just vibes and rocking away on that chair,” one person said while another wrote:

“Lasizwe has proven what @ntsikimazwai was saying about S.A not having enough educated influencers..”

“Whats happening here? I feel like Ntsiki is more matured and way more educated than Lasizwe. Is there any particular reason why Ntsiki was invited here with this kid and not with persons within her spectra,” a third wrote.
