Makhadzi goes after SARS, tax debt reduced to R2.7 million

Makhadzi is topping trends against her tax woes. Makhadzi reportedly goes after the South African Revenue Service (SARS) in the backdrop of her R6.6 million tax debt.

Sunday World reports that the multi-award-winning singer has found common ground with SARS after engaging Johanesburg-based tax consultant STT Group Holding to challenge SARS astronomical figures.

Reports have it that a whopping 60% has reduced Makhadzi’s R6.6 million tax debt. From the initial R6.6 million tax debt, Makhadzi will reportedly pay R2.7 million.

A month ago, it was reported that the star was embroiled in a tax debt that dates back to 2016. Her new management confirmed the news and said they were engaging the SARS.

Makhadzi’s manager, Lucky Tshilimandila, said: “Yes, we acknowledge the debt. It goes back to 2016. Makhadzi currently has an arrangement with SARS.”

However, they have yet to confirm the emerging reports that have thrust the star into top trends. Against the news of her tax woes, Makhadzi’s previous management was implicated in the mix.

Mzansi was more than convinced they were partly to be blamed since they failed to file her taxes with SARS.

Since her thrust into the limelight, she has worked with three management companies. Reports have it that she joined Open Mic with a tax debt accumulating over the years. Makhadzi previously worked with Rita Dee before being signed under Open Mic.

A source said anonymously, “When she joined Open Mic, she was already owing and the debt accumulated.” The source revealed that her properties have since been embroiled in the taxes, but she can not afford to lose them.
