Luyanda Zwane is reportedly leaving ‘Sibongile and The Dlaminis’

Rising star Luyanda Zwane, who is known for her starring role as the title character in Sibongile and The Dlaminis is reportedly leaving the show.

LUYANDA ZWANE: EXIT

Entertainment commentator Jabu Mcdonalds reports that the rising star Luyanda Zwane has exited Sibongile and The Dlaminis.

Luyanda Zwane is leaving #SibongileXDlaminis and will not be part of season two,” says Mcdonald.

The Outlaws and Miseducation actress scored the leading role in Mzansi Wethu’s first telenovela, Sibongile and The Dlaminis in July 2023.

The telenovela follows the journey of Sibongile Mbambo, who is an innocent rural young woman forced to leave her family and dreams behind. She becomes a domestic worker in the lavish mansion of the affluent Dlamini family.

The show is set in the small town of Ixopo in KwaZulu-Natal and promises to explore timeless themes of love, sacrifice, ambition, and familial bonds.

The breakout star tells Sowetan that she first met her passion for acting in high school and was deeply involved in the world of dramatic arts.

The South African reached out to Zwane for a comment, who was not available for a comment at the time of publishing this article.

‘SIBONGILE AND DLAMINIS’: BREAKS RECORDS

The Citizen reports that Sibongile and The Dlaminis, which stars Luyanda Zwane is currently the most-watched show on Mzansi Wethu.

The show set a new record for the channel’s most-watched show when it surpassed the 2.6 million mark in viewership.

The publication adds that the show garnered an impressive average viewership of over 2 million, with its peak hitting 2 688 338 live viewers.

Nomsa Philiso, who is the CEO of general entertainment at MultiChoice congratulated the cast and confirmed season two of the telenovela.

“This is a cause for celebration and a clear indication of the love and appreciation that our viewers have for Sibongile & The Dlaminis. What makes this telenovela so special is the combination of good scripting, casting, and overall production, which makes it a pleasure to watch.

“Thank you very much to our middle and mass scripted team for this one and we hope that with season two coming soon. We will see more growth in viewership numbers because there is still more to this story.”
