If there’s one thing about Kelly Khumalo, she will give you music to fall in love to. Throughout the years, the singer has graced us with beautiful ballads, romantic afropop songs and heartfelt emotional tracks. She’s continued on that path with the release of her new single, Emaweni, which is her first release since her early 2023 album came out, From a God to a King.

KELLY KHUMALO RELEASES ONE FOR THE LOVERS
Sundays might be for lovers, but when you’re a Kelly Khumalo fan then almost every day is another opportunity to spread the romance. In her latest track, Emaweni, the singer enlists the production skills of Aubrey Qwana to tell a mystical love story. The song taps into the realms of fairy tales and tells the story of a love-sick Kelly who is looking for her happily ever after.

Speaking about the song itself, Kelly Khumalo explained that she is in a new space musically. The songbird said, “Emaweni feels like I am releasing music for the first time, the experience is always different. However, this one makes me different in a good way.”

The song proved to be an almost instant hit on social media platforms. Many users were impressed from their very first listen and the song’s title, Emaweni was trending across social media on the Friday it released. One excited user explained the impact it had on them when they wrote, “Kelly Khumalo you are a Musical genius, a dope and intelligent lyricist, your delivery is unmatched mama…as I’ve said before, you’re my musical professor”
The song was hotly anticipated from the moment Kelly teased a video of her in the studio recording Emaweni back in October. Considering that this single wasn’t on her previous album, one wonders if there’s a chance that Kelly could be blessing her fans with another project in the coming months – just eight months after the release of From a God to a King.
