Jese Kriel revealed whom he thought would make it into the Springboks rock band on 11 March.

The talented star had been part of the Springboks squad since their World Cup win in 2019. Over the years, the Springboks have developed a tradition of singing and dancing, impressing their fans.

Even outside rugby, some of their players, like Makazole Mapimpi and Siya Kolisi, showed their love for dancing and singing. A few months ago, Makazole shocked fans with his vocals singing a gospel song.

Some of his fans even tipped him to start a career in music once he finished rugby. Conversely, Trevor Nyakane and Bongi Mbonambi pulled impressive dance moves that trended after winning the World Cup.

With such kinds of characters, it did not take Jesse Kriel much time to pick the players he thought would make his dream Springboks band. Superport shared the interview video where Jesse picked and explained his choices on Instagram.

“What would the name of this @bokrugby band be? 😂 Did @jessekriel15 get his selections correct? 🎸🥁” he said.

In trying to construct his dream Springboks band, Jesse Kriel started with departmental leaders. He started by picking Trevor Nyakane as the dancing and general entertainment leader.

On singing, he chose Makazole Mapimpi, which confirmed what fans heard when he sang a gospel song in his car. He chose Cobus Reinach to be the leader on drums, saying he would be all over the place and fit drums well.

He chose Eben Etzebeth to play the lead guitar, followed by Willie Le Roux as the band manager. Jesse chose Siya Kolisi for public relations and content creation but was not happy with his role.

He finished by giving himself the Van driver role.

After Jesse Kriel outlined his dream Springboks band, some teammates responded differently to their roles. Among them was Trevor Nyakane, who was happy with his role and Siya Kolisi, who seemed slightly disappointed.

“@jessekriel15, haha, you just know it’s going to be lit; I mean, the moves will be on fire; should I start putting a few moves together? 🔥🕺🏽,” Trevor said.

The Springboks captain had other ideas on a few skipped players like Damian de Allende and Marco Van Staden.

@jessekriel15 not even back up singer my bra 😂 but I’ll do the media,” Siya Kolisi started.

“@jessekriel15 I think @marco.vanstaden.95 should definitely be the driver 😂😂. @damiandeallende needs an appearance somewhere, too. Don’t know if @ebenetzebeth4 can play the guitar with the state of his arms atm 💪🏾😂,” he continued thinking.
