Life has been difficult for musician Vusi Nova following the passing of his friend, Zahara —real name Bulelwa Mkutukana – on 11 December.

VUSI NOVA TO DEDICATED SONG TO ZAHARA

To honour and pay tribute to the Loliwe hitmaker, Vusi told TshisaLIVE that he has written a song dedicated to her in his forthcoming album.

“I write about things I go through, which makes the writing process easier, but at the same time it’s draining, but it’s my way of healing myself.”

His album is titled Full Circle.

“There is a song I did called Zahara; it’s one of those songs that will send people into tears because I’m pouring out what I was feeling.”

Vusi said Zahara’s family recently gifted him with the late star’s guitars.

“I never thought we’d face something like this. To find myself in a space where Bulelwa is no longer here has been hectic. It’s still something I’m trying to wrap my head around. I found myself in a space where I was, like, let me share.”

THEIR FRIENDSHIP

Vusi spoke fondly of Zahara at her funeral service held at East London International Convention Centre in December.

“Bulelwa was special, she was extraordinary,” said Nova while wiping away tears.

“For me, right now, she was the one person who understood me. I understood her. Bulelwa took, literally, my secrets to the grave.

“She took all my secrets to the grave. I want to promise her I will take her secrets to the grave,” he said.
