‘Hard luck Sundowns’ – Fans troll Bafana Bafana after defeat
“They said we will go far with sundowns and pirates players only,” Fans react to South Africa’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers defeat.

South Africans flooded social media with their two cents after Bafana Bafana were defeated two-nil by Rwanda in their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Rwanda humbled South Africa at the Huye Stadium, with Innocent Nshuti netting the opener in the 12th minute before Gilbert Mugisha sealed the win with a 28th-minute winner.

BAFANA BAFANA BEATEN BY RWANDA
No doubt the defeat came as a shocker to fans back home. South Africa headed into the clash leading Group C with three points after defeating Benin at the Moses Mabhidha Stadium last Saturday.
After the defeat in Huye, they are now second in the group, with Rwanda leading the group with four points. South Africa are in Group C alongside Benin, Lesotho, Nigeria, Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

South Africa is ranked 12th in Africa and 64th in the latest FIFA rankings, and fans didn’t take the defeat well, given that Rwanda is ranked 28th in Africa and 140th in the world.
However, Hugo Broos’ lads’ next match will be against Nigeria in June 2024.
