While Springbok Handre Pollard may have “GOAT” status when it comes to rugby, he’s proved that he’s just as clued up about soccer.

The famous flyhalf showed off his ball skills in a video posted by his UK club, Leicester Tigers.

Handre has played in three Rugby World Cups, of which South Africa has won two consecutive titles.

In the clip filmed during training, Leicester Tigers players were seen showing off their soccer skills.

The players were then asked to name their favourite football idols.

First up was Springbok Handre Pollard, who proudly named another South African.  “Simphiwe Tshabalala,” he said of the retired Bafana Bafana player, who scored the first goal of the 2010 FIFA World Cup on home soil.

Fellow Bok Jasper Wiese also named a Saffa as his favourite.

“Steven Pienaar,” he said of the local star, who went on to play for UK clubs Everton, Tottenham and Sunderland.

In the comments section, South Africans thanked the players for their support.

@manonogram: “I love it. My Bokke are so biased. Proudly South African”

@seth92395: “Love how the SA boys chose SA players.”

@mana_mahlaba: “Boks are showing love to Bafana.”

@melizemoolman: “Lol, love the way Handre says Tshabalala

Meanwhile, Handre Pollard was also quizzed on who he believes is the Springboks “most underrated player.”

Appearing on Jim Hamilton’s The Big Jim Show in February, Pollard named centre Damian de Allende.

He said: “It has got to be him. He gets a lot of criticism, but the thing is, we use him in a very specific way.

“He’s got such a skill set that people don’t get to see every day. If you watch some of the games he plays in Japan, you will get a feel for what he can do.

“But he’s just a workhorse. The thing is, when it gets tough, he’s the guy who steps up every single time; it’s not the pretty stuff that he does. It’s the hard yards.

Pollard has previously shared love for Manie Libbok, whom he substituted in a few World Cup games last year.

He told Sky Sports: “I can’t praise Manie enough for the way he’s playing and handling the pressure.

“He’s a humble guy and works extremely hard, and he works for the team.

“He’s got a lovely dynamic way of playing towards us as a team, that’s a lovely thing and something that we’ve all embraced and enjoyed as well.

“Whatever our roles are for myself or him wherever we play it’s all towards the team and what we can do best for them.”
