Gospel singer Hlengiwe Mhlaba accused of crashing into motorist’s car, refusing to pay

Gospel singer Hlengiwe Mhlaba has hit back after a motorist accused her of being at fault when her car crashed into his in KZN.

Award-winning gospel musician Hlengiwe Mhlaba is accused of bumping a motorisr’s car and not paying for the damages.

According to Sunday World, the driver – whose name is Siyabonga Msomi – says the Rock of Ages hitmaker crashed into his car on 31 October on the R74 between Estcourt and Mnambithi in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).

KZN MOTORIST ACCUSES HLENGIWE MHLABA OF DAMAGING HIS CAR

Msomi told the publication that Mhlaba was driving recklessly and at high speed when she crashed into the back of his car.

“I wasn’t happy with the way she was driving, mainly because the weather was bad and that road is always full of trucks.

“So, I decided to drive past her. I then noticed a cow in the middle of the road and immediately applied the breaks. This caused her to crash into my car, causing damage on the back bumper.

“I suspect she did not see the cow because she was following me very close.”

Msomi alleges that the singer immediately got out of her car and shouted at him, blaming him fir the accident.

“Had she kept the distance, she would’ve seen the cow and avoided the accident. I told her this but she refused to take accountability,” he said.

He further added that Mhlaba refused to apologise and made it clear that she will not pay for this damage.

“A few days later I contacted her with the intention of getting a solution to this problem. I wanted her to fix my car or apologise.

Msomi said he does not have car insurance.

SINGER RESPONDS

Speaking to the outlet, Mhlaba confirmed the accident. However, she denied there was a cow and also denied shouting at Msomi.

“Yes, I bumped into his car but it was his fault. I was driving behind him and [he] suddenly stopped for no reason.

“I even gave him my personal details for him to claim from his car insurance.”

The singer reiterated that she will not apologise.
