Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Sibongiseni ‘Ox’ Mthethwa is making headlines in the backdrop of his birthday.

The star recently turned a year older, and fans were puzzled by his age.

No doubt, since his newfound fame, he has managed to keep his private life under wraps, leaving many to guess even about his age. However, fans connected the dots about his age against the backdrop of his birthday.

Kaizer Chiefs joined fans on social media to celebrate Ox Mthethwa’s birthday. The Soweto giants posted, “Happy Birthday, Ox. We hope that you had an amazing day.”

Fellow stars and fans flooded social media with warm birthday wishes. The post has since gained thousands of comments and reactions since it dropped. No doubt Sibongiseni Mthethwa’s age has since thrust him into top trends, but how old is he?

The 30-year-old midfielder was born on 19 April 1994. His birthday seemingly rubbishes reports that he was born on 20 September 1994. However, fans were puzzled by Mthethwa’s age.

Mzansi was divided, with many convinced that Sibongiseni Mthethwa looked older than his age. Mthethwa joins a host of stars who recently celebrated their birthdays, including Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane.

The star was born on 17 April 1986 in Ndumo, Ingwavuma. Against the backdrop of his birthday, reports have it that the star might leave the Soweto giants at the end of the season.

CAREER

Surprisingly, his youth career is unknown. However, he used to work in the textile industry a few years ago before his breakthrough. He seemingly started his senior career with the Royal Eagles. However, in 2020, he joined Black Leopards.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa’s command of the game saw him joining Stellenbosch in the 2022/2023. While at Stellenbosch, he attracted several big clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu. European interests were also reported, but nothing materialised.

Two days before the deadline, Kaizer Chiefs signed the star. He has been influential in the team. His command of the game and style of play have been compared to Kaizer Chiefs legend Willard Katsande.

He has his first national team call-up in the 2022-2023 season while with Stellenbosch. Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Bafana Bafana’s call-up saw home becoming the fourth player to be called up for national team duty from Stellenbosch. Since then, he has been a regular and has earned over 13 appearances for the national team.
