Beloved Rugby World Cup champion Francois “Faf” De Klerk and his wife Mine De Klerk have shared a new photo of their newborn and revealed the baby’s face as seen in a post shared on Sunday, 7 April.

The Springbok star and his beautiful wife welcomed their first child Remi-Ré De Klerk on 27 February. The little baby was born at 37 weeks and for days. The tiny tot weighed 2.85kg and was 48cm when they were born at the Life Rosepark Hospital in Bloemfontein.

Before heading back to join his rugby team in Japan, Faf De Klerk posted a new photo of his baby and wife on his feed. He then gushed over the duo and said that he would miss them terribly while he was gone.

“Back to Japan! Going to miss these 2,” Faf captioned.

The lovely couple kept their pregnancy under wraps until earlier this year. In January, the Springbok WAG took to Instagram and shared several of photos taken from her baby shower.

Miné and Faf tied the knot in October 2022, The Citizen reported. They were said to have exchanged their vows at the picturesque La Paris Estate in Franschhoek.

As one can imagine, leaving your family and your newborn to be all the way in another country may be heartbreaking. However, Faf De Klerk has obligations that he has to see through in Japan — this as he is signed with the Yokohama Canon Eagles.

The South African previously reported that the rugby star is one of the top earners among the top Springbok stars. It was further reported that he was allegedly offered a whopping R1.77 million per month which ultimately adds up to a yearly salary of more than R21 million.

De Klerk is also joined by one of his own, Jesse Kriel at Canon Eagles. Springboks centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg has also signed a short-term deal with the Japanese Rugby League, Planet Rugby reported. Van Rensburg was reportedly brought on to fill one of the Canon Eagles’ foreign player slots.

Meanwhile, Kriel and De Klerk are said to be expected to miss most of the regular season.

Previously, speaking in an interview about his experience of Japan, De Klerk said: “We try to explore Japan as much as we can, to see new places and find cool spots at which to eat. We also braai quite often, especially now that the weather’s become a lot better. The meat here is outstanding – from Wagyu [Japanese beef] to chops to pork, everything is very good.”
