Despite a harsh four-year ban effectively ending his professional rugby career, disgraced former Springbok Elton Jantjies has promised to make a “comeback.”

The infamous flyhalf made headlines earlier this month after the South African Institute of Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) confirmed his ban after failing a drug test last year.

In recent months, the 33-year-old has failed to make the Springbok squad in a series of test matches. He’s also reportedly been let go of clubs Agen and Red Hurricanes over several scandals.

While Elton Jantjies last played professional rugby a year ago, he does believe he can make a return.

He posted in an Instagram Story over the weekend, Jantjies shared: “Everyone thinks I am losing. But I’m silently preparing for my comeback story”.

Despite his public scandals – which include an alleged affair with Springbok dietician Zeenat Simjee, a stint in a rehab centre, and allegations he abused girlfriend Ashleigh Ogle – Elton Jantjies has vowed to make a “return”.

He’s even offered to “tell all” in a one-on-one session with fans for R650.

Last month, the prospect of him playing professionally came crashing down after SAIDS confirmed that Elton had not exercised his right to appeal his failed drug tests, reported Planet Rugby.

CEO Khalid Galant said the appeal window has now closed, effectively ushering in the four-year ban.

In August 2023, Elton admitted to testing positive for Clenbuterol, a fat burner that also aids stamina. SAIDS conducted the test in June via a urine sample.

Meanwhile, a handful of social media users are convinced that Elton Jantjies may be taking up MMA fighting. This amid a flurry of clips showing off his fighting skills.

The ex-Bok has sung the praises of his fitness coach Sunz Singh, who is based in New Zealand. While Sunz professionally trains many rugby players, his IG bio also refers to him as a “world MMA trainer of the year nominee.”

According to New Zealand Herald, he’s trained the likes of UFC champion Israel Adesanya and Sonny Bill Williams, who is a heavyweight boxer.
