God’s plan? Dricus Du Plessis thanks Drake for Sean Strickland bet

UFC Middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis  took to X (the social media platform previously known as Twitter) and dedicated a special post to American rapper Drake as seen on Monday, 22 January – this comes after the rapper placed a $700 000 (an estimated R13.3 million) bet that the South African fighter would lose a fight against Sean Strickland this past weekend.

DRICUS DU PLESSIS RESPONDS TO DRAKE’S UFC BET

Dricus Du Plessis made history as the first South African UFC champion after snatching the UFC Middleweight title from American fighter Sean Strickland. The duo went head-to-head at the Scotiabank Arena this past weekend.

Taking to his Instagram, Du Plessis appreciated his South African fans for their support. “History has been made🇿🇦. This is Africa; we fear nothing and certainly no one!! Thank you, South Africa. It’s an honor representing our beautiful nation,” he wrote on his feed.

Unfortunately for Canadian-born American rapper Aubrey Drake Graham, he lost millions of rands (an estimated R13.3 million) after placing a bet on Strickland to beat Du Plessis. According to Sportskeeda, before the duo took to the ring, Drake posted his betting slip via his Instagram Stories and revealed his whopping bet amount as seen in a screenshot shared by the publication.

THE BEST RESPONSE?

Dricus Du Plessis decided to send an appreciation message to Drake following his historic victory and the rapper’s unfortunate loss. In a sarcastic post, he tagged the Hotline Bling hitmaker and wrote: “O snap almost forgot, Thanks Drake.
