‘She was caring and loving’: DJ Sbu pays tribute to Zahara [watch]

DJ Sbu pays tribute to multi-award-winning musician Zahara during his exclusive interview with Newzroom Afrika.

Celebrated music executive and businessman DJ Sbu is topping trends after he paid tribute to late Loliwe hitmaker Zahara Bulelwa Mkutukana.

The multi-award-winning star died on Monday, 11 December 2023, at a private Johannesburg hospital with her fiancé, Mpho Xaba, by her bedside.

DJ SBU PAYS TRIBUTE TO ZAHARA

The multi-award-winning singer was admitted two days after her traditional wedding reception. Upon admission, she was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) because of her condition.

However, earlier this week, her family confirmed her untimely death with a press statement shared on her social media accounts.

No doubt, in the backdrop of the confirmation, several celebrities have since flooded social media with their messages of condolences. Against the confirmation, DJ Sbu also paid tribute to the award-winning singer.

The DJ is credited for thrusting the late star into the limelight through their record label TS Records with Thembinkosi “TK” Nciza. While speaking on Newzroom Afrika, the DJ revealed that the singer was caring and loving.

DJ Sbu also revealed how they spotted the award-winning musician and how she was mentored to be one of the greatest star musicians to ever come from South Africa.

ROYALTY WOES

The DJ dived into their alleged troubled relationship. No doubt DJ Sbu has been making headlines in the backdrop of Zahara’s death. The late singer noted that her former record label swindled her over R10 million in royalties from her smash hits.

She also made it known that she couldn’t drag them to the courts because she had no money to do so since they swindled a massive chunk of her royalties.

DJ Sbu cleared the air during the interview and clarified that she was paid directly to her account as per her contract, and they owed her nothing.
