David Teeger will undoubtedly be celebrating his matric pass with an exciting performance in the U19 Cricket World Cup when South Africa takes on the West Indies.

The young batsman’s school – King Edward II – announced it had achieved a 100% pass rate following the release of results on Friday, 19 January.

Teeger is part of the squad playing in the tournament, which takes place in five venues around the country.

In a Facebook post, King Edward VII School, or KES, shares the news about the class of 2023 

“We are thrilled to announce that KES has achieved a remarkable 100% pass rate in 2023 matric results”.

The school posted pics of its matriculants, which included head boy David Teeger.

It’s unclear how many distinctions Teeger received, although he was known as a “top achiever” in both sports and academics.

The sportsman courted controversy last year when he claimed at the Jewish Achievers Awards Ceremony that the “the true rising stars are the young soldiers in Israel.”

He has since been relieved of his captaincy title over concerns of protest actions.

WHAT’S NEXT?

In an interview with SuperSport Schools, Teeger revealed what his post matric plans entailed. He said: “My ambition is to play professional cricket, and then one day, hopefully play for the Proteas. That would be my greatest honour”.

Teeger added that he also wanted to study further.

He continued: “Academics are a crucial grounding for anyone. It is also a backup. Sport is unpredictable with injuries. I definitely want to enter the business world as an accountant”.
