Goodnight Mtanam (my child). I can finish the whole book talking about you. One thing though, I must celebrate you with many South Africans because you were indeed a South African treasure,” Nciza penned.

“Your talent and us coming together created magic the whole country and the world is talking about you today for different reasons, but one common thing is your music. That makes me proud because I am one of the few who can talk about Zahara and that humbles me,” he said.

“One thing is for sure, we had our ups and downs like any other child and his father, but we understood what we meant to each other. [I] will write a book one day about your power to heal through that powerful voice of yours. Masthathu [clan name] good night. You made history [and] I am glad [that] I was part of it. One thing [is] for sure, as they say, you are a victim of your own success. Lala ngoxolo [RIP] Masthathu,” Nciza concluded.

R30M? THE LATE SINGER CLAIMED TS RECORDS OWED HER

Zahara released her debut album Loliwe in 2011 followed by smash hits like Ndiza, Phendula, Bendirongo, and more. According to SowetanLIVE, in 2019, she claimed that her breakthrough album sold more than 500 000 copies. During an interview on MacG’s Podcast & Chill, she said TS Records owed her a large sum of money. When asked about the alleged R10m to R30m, Zahara said she believed karma would eventually catch up with those responsible for withholding what is allegedly due to her.

The 36-year-old Afro-pop musician died “surrounded by family and loved ones” earlier this week after suffering from a short illness. Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, 14 December at the Rhema Bible Church in Randburg, Johannesburg and she will be laid to rest on 23 December in East London, Eastern Cape.
