Springboks bad boys? Sbu Nkosi shows love to Elton Jantjies

From one controversial Springbok to another: Sbu Nkosi – known for his own scandals off the pitch – praised his ex colleague Elton Jantjies.

They both helped the Springboks win the Rugby World Cup in 2019. They also played for some of the biggest clubs in South Africa and abroad. But since then, its all come crashing down for both Elton Jantjies and Sbu Nkosi.

The rugby players – who were both let go from their respective clubs following a spate of scandals off the pitch  – have plenty in common.

They also have mutual respect after Nkosi showed love to his former Boks teammate in an Instagram post.

SBU NKOSI SHOWS LOVE TO ELTON JANTJIES

In an Instagram post this week, Elton revealed that he was offering his fans a chance to hear his side of the story via a video chat. 

This, after he made headlines in recent months, including testing positive for a banned substance, a public marriage split, a stint in rehab, and an ex-girlfriend who recently accused him of making violent threats against her.

Elton – who was last signed to French club Agen – is charging fans R650 for the experience.

In a video message, he said, “Instead of writing a book, it’s like having a live chat or having a few questions from my fans and friends.

He added: “It’s for me to answer as honestly as possible, just to get to know more about me…on and off the field.

“It’s going to be fun…nothing too serious. When it’s the time, we can also get serious.”

In the comments section, a familiar name popped up.

Fellow former Springbok Sbu Nkosi posted: “Danko”, to which Elton responded: “It’s gonna be hot!”

BACK TO THE SHARKS?

Like Elton, Sbu Nkosi has not played for the Springboks for quite some time and is unlikely to feature again.

According to Planet Rugby, the winger has dropped down in the pecking order after fellow players Makazole Mapimpi, Cheslin Kolbe Kurt-Lee Arendse, and Canan Moodie have risen in the ranks.

The 27-year-old was officially released from his contract at the Bulls in July and is technically out of play.

There’s also the case of his private life scandals, including going AWOL from his former club, the Bulls, last year and courting controversy over his social media shade.

In a recent Instagram post, Sbu hinted that he’d like to return to his home at the Sharks.

He posted: “Mind is on the next move. Heart is in the 031”.
