Springboks’ Trevor Nyakane brings the dance moves home [watch]

Trevor Nyakane broke out his famous moves as the Springboks touched down in Gauteng. Fans were glad to see the famous dance in the flesh!

The Springboks are back in South Africa and nobody epitomised the mood they’ve brought into the country like prop, Trevor Nyakane who danced his way into fans’ hearts on Wednesday the 1st of November.

Fresh from winning the Rugby World Cup, the Springboks have kicked off their nationwide Trophy Tour where they are inviting fans from different provinces to visit their tour bus as it stops in their towns. On Wednesday, the team’s tour began in Pretoria before making its way to Multichoice City in Johannesburg for a day filled with smiles and celebration. There were few bigger smiles than when Trevor Nyakane stepped out to greet the awaiting crowd.

TREVOR NYAKANE’S EPIC GRAND ENTRANCE

As soon as the Springboks arrived at the Supersport offices in Johannesburg, the fireworks and fanfare were in full swing. One by one, the players all took turns to walk out and face a jubilant crowd who were eager to cheer their champions on. When Nyakane stepped up, not only did the noise pick up, but so did the laughter as he showed his sense of humour with a teasing entrance.

The heavy-hitting Prop then showed his fleet footedness as he broke out into dance with Mama Joy joining along. Fans are familiar with his moves by now as his dancing became the highlight of many of the Springboks’ wins at the World Cup, but this time they got to enjoy the moves in the flesh!

MAKING BUSHBUCKRIDGE PROUD

Nyakane’s dance clearly tickled his South African fanbase as number of fans took to Twitter to comment about his hilarious moves. @Anelisa_N on TikTok wrote, “He’s such a vibe!” while another fan lamented “I’m going to miss him so much if he retires!”.

At the age of 34-years-old, this victory might have been Nyakane’s final World Cup win. Even if it is the end of an era, he has made fans from across the country, and especially his hometown of Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga very proud. One hometown fan summed it up by saying “Nyakane all the way from Bushbuckridge Hlamalani village muchangani waka hina [one of our own] proud [of] u bro!”

Let’s hope to see more dance moves as the tour moves on to the next city!
