Cape Town-born rugby star Hacjivah Dayimani has clapped back at trolls who had negative views about his Nigerian roots.

HACJIVAH AND BUSI DAYIMANI ARE FIRST-TIME PARENTS

This comes after murder-accused entertainment blogger, Musa Khawula, shared on his X account that the DHL Stormers flanker and his wife, Busi Mthimkhulu Dayimani, recently welcomed their first baby together.

“Busi Dayimani and her husband Hacjivah Chukwunoso Dayimani welcome their newborn baby,” read Musa’s post, which was accompanied by the young couple’s picture with their baby.

DHL STORMERS PLAYER HITS BACK AT TROLLS

While some congratulated the couple and marvelled at Busi’s beauty, there were a number of comments about Hacjivah’s second name and surname, as many assumed he took his wife’s surname.

The rugby player is born to a Xhosa mother and a Nigerian father. His first name comes from the Hebrew name “Akiva” and the Xhosa name “Mpumelelo” which means achiever. His name is pronounced “Achiever” with an H.

Hitting back at trolls, Hacjivah said: “🥱 The comments are boring!”

He also shared pictures of their traditional wedding with the caption: “I fed her Jollof [a popular West African dish] and Tsiki [Xhosa traditional ceremony celebrating a couple’s union] on this day.”

THE COUPLE’S LOVE STORY

“One day when we went out for dinner with our families and some of our friends, Hacjivah dropped his phone close to where I was seated, and when I turned around to hand the phone to him, I saw him down on his knees. As gobsmacked as I was, I just remember smiling and saying ‘Yes’ when I saw the ring. That’s when we started planning the wedding.

“I am Zulu and he is half Xhosa and Nigerian, so we had to blend our cultural background with a two-day traditional wedding in Craddock in the Eastern Cape. I was welcomed into his family on the last day in such a beautiful way… the ancestors were also consulted in this process. I can’t wait for our white wedding though, ” Busi said.
