South Africans have been left flabbergasted by the claims of student Bafana Mahungela discovering the body of Johannesburg teacher Kirsten Kluyts in Sandton in October.

The 21-year-old has maintained his innocence on allegations of murdering the pregnant woman, despite admitting to stripping her of all her clothing.

Now, an old Instagram post from Mahungela joking about drugging a woman in order to bed her has gone viral.

KIRSTEN KLUYTS ACCUSED’S SICK JOKE RESURFACES

This week, Bafana Mahungela appeared in the Alexandria Magistrates Court on charges of premeditated murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and rape in connection with the murder of Kirsten Kluyts.

The body of the 34-year-old Delta Park High School teacher was discovered near the Sandton Sports Club on 29 October. This, after she failed to complete a MyRun charity event.

According to Mahungela, after stumbling upon Kirsten’s body, he removed her clothing to prevent his fingerprints from being implicated in her murder. He was later seen wearing her blue T-shirt in surveillance footage.

Now, a suspicious Instagram post from the Varsity College student has gone viral amid the court proceedings. The post – dated 11 July 2016 – features a meme about “How to get a girl to come home with you.”

The first two options – good looks and plenty of money – are innocent enough. However, the third – a joke about using Chloroform, a powerful sedative – has raised eyebrows.

“The signs were there,” one recent comment under the post reads. Another posted: “The post screams psychopath.”

BAFANA MAHUNGELA: CRIME FILMMAKER WEIGHS IN

Meanwhile, crime filmmaker Anthony Molyneux has weighed into Bafana Mahungela’s allegations of innocently discovering Kirsten Kluyts’s body.

Molyneux – who produced The Last Blue Ride, a doccie on the murder of Cape Town student Hannah Cornelius’s brutal murder – tweeted: “The accused (Bafana Mahungela) is saying he fell asleep in taxi, got lost, wandered into park, took a pi**, found a dead person, stripped her naked, left park, shoved her clothes down a drain except for her shirt, which he wore.

“He didn’t tell the police. One should never judge too soon, in my experience. This sounds like a concocted story made up by a potentially sick individual”.

After discovering Mahungela’s suspicious IG post, he added: “Take a look and let me know if you think this is appropriate behaviour for a guy that referenced GBV as being one of the reasons he didn’t want to get involved in the case…”.
