‘I’m so grateful for life’: Somizi Mhlongo reflected on the past year as he celebrated his birthday via an Instagram post.

Radio and TV personality, Somizi Mhlongo celebrated his 52nd birthday on Saturday, 23 December – taking to social media, he announced an upcoming cruise trip in honour of his special day.


Metro FM radio personality Somizi Mhlongo was the ultimate golden boy after posting photos dressed in a gold two-piece, carrying a bunch of gold balloons, and captioning: “Birthday Golden Boy”.

On his popular Instagram page, he also decided to show off a clip of Rugby World Cup champion and seasoned Springbok player Makazole Mapimpi wishing him a lovely birthday message.

Somizi also shared that for his birthday this year, he reflected, did some introspection, and admitted to be living his dreams which he appreciated.

“I’d be lying if I said I’m not living my dreams. 2023 has been nothing less of a miracle. I’ve really had a great year in every aspect… I’ve reflected. done some introspection, and I’m so grateful for life and for love. Thank you to each and every one for the well wishes. Your love and support supersedes all the negatives,” he said.

The cruise ship company, Travell Bella also wished Somizi Mhlongo a happy birthday and said: “Screaming Happy Birthday to the Captain of the Ship! We hope you have a day as fabulous and fun as you are. We cherish your loyalty, advice, and genuine love. May God bless you with many more years.”

The Bella Cruise ship is set to leaving the dock on 17 February 2024. Once again, Somizi will captain the ship in honour of his birthday. In April this year, the media personality sailed from Durban to the majestic Portuguese islands off the coast of Mozambique on a three-day luxury and nonstop entertainment cruise, The Citizen reported.
