Watch: Bafana left Morocco players in tears crying
Morocco players were left crying in tears lying on the field by South Africa’s Bafana during Afcon in Ivory Coast.

South Africa’s Bafana left Morocco players crying after their Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) round of 16 match on 30 January. It was a close contest as the two sides faced each other, trying to book the quarter-final place.
Before the game, many fans took Bafana Bafana as underdogs, but they shocked the world.

They were solid in defence and utilised their chances well when they got them. Thanks to Teboho Mokoena and Evidence Makgopa, South Africa won the game 2-nil. As Bafana celebrated dancing, it was an emotional game, but Morocco players and fans both cried.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) captured this heartbreaking moment after the final whistle. They shared on their Instagram that the Atlas Lions’s journey was over.

WHY MOROCCO PLAYERS CRIED AFTER BAFANA DEFEAT
The 2024 Afcon tournament had been surprising to many fans and players. It started with the last tournament’s finalists, Senegal and Egypt, going home after their round of 16 defeats. As if that was not enough, some of Africa’s most ranked teams, like Algeria and Cameroon, also went home trophyless.

It seemed as if it was Morocco’s chance to win the tournament after an impressive display at the World Cup. They also got a penalty to claim the game, but Achraf Hakim could not hit the target.

After Caf shared the video of Morocco players crying after the Bafana defeat, many fans could not even believe it.
