AKA’s friend and brand manager, Mahlatse Sethole or Zazboy, has paid tribute to the rapper – real name Kiernan Forbes – on the first anniversary of his death.

On 10 February 2023, Forbes and friend Tebello Tibz Motsoane were shot and killed outside the Wish on Florida restaurant in Durban. He was reportedly en route to his performance at nightclub Yu-Go.

Before the fateful shooting, AKA enjoyed a dinner with a group of his close friends, including Don Design, Scorpio Siya, Benny Maverick, and others.
