Songstress Kelly Khumalo announced on her social media platforms that she will be performing at Rusty Rocks All For Women music concert, and the Women’s Day Soul Therapy Picnic Celebration. This comes after the Afro-pop superstar was dropped from two shows consecutively earlier this week.

Kelly Khumalo won’t be at Tribute To Women

The “Empini” hitmaker was set to hit the stage at the Tribute To Women concert alongside Mafikizolo, Sjava, and Amanda Black to name a few. Earlier this week, Tribute To Women decided to remove Kelly from their line-up. Citing concerns for the safety of their patrons, the organisers released a statement to let everyone know.

“In the interest of safeguarding our festival, management has taken the decision to relieve Ms. Khumalo of her obligations to perform at our festival this year to afford her and her team the time they require to deal with the issues emanating from the current court proceedings”. Maseru Jazz Festival also puts Kelly on hold

Kelly was also set to serenade and thrill fans at The Maseru Jazz Festival taking place on the 24th of September. That performance was also pulled, with the organisers acknowledging that though the songstress is innocent until proven otherwise, she will not be performing at the festival.

“As Maseru Park we here to inform you that we have seen comments on social media about one of our guests’ performers which came to our attention that we need to inform our public and society that we are putting Kelly Khumalo on hold.” Read the press release

The Akathintwa singer rises again

These cancelations come after a series of unfavourable comments made by social media users about the star’s appearance on the aforementioned shows. All of these troubles can be linked to the ongoing Senzo Meyiwa trial.

Against all odds Khumalo’s name still holds power. She will be performing at the Women’s Day Soul Therapy Picnic Celebration on the 5th of August. And take the stage again on the 12th at Rusty Rocks All For Women music concert, replacing the two shows she has lost. The powerhouse vocalist’s fans were thrilled to learn of this development, vowing to come out in numbers to show their unwavering support.
