‘Belongs behind bars’: NGO celebrates Jub Jub’s arrest

TV presenter and rapper Jub Jub’s arrest has been welcomed by anti-women and children abuse organisation, Women For Change.

Anti women and children abuse organisation Women For Change has welcomed the news of Uyajola 9/9 host Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye’ arrest.

This comes after reports that a well-known rapper and TV presenter had handed himself over and was arrested and charged with alleged rape, attempted murder and assault on Thursday, 27 July.

“Police can confirm that a well-known rapper handed himself over to the police in Brixton on Thursday, 27 July 2023, after a warrant of arrest was issued against him.

“He is expected to appear before the Johannesburg magistrate’s court today facing charges of rape, attempted murder and assault,” Gauteng Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo said.

Sunday World confirmed that the rapper in question is Jub Jub and he appeared at the Johannesburg magistrate’s court on charges from a case opened by a well-known celebrity and TV star. He was granted R10 000 bail.

Following the news, Women For Change tweeted: “YES! Today is a good day!!!! Jub Jub belongs behind bars.”

In another tweet, the NGO wrote: “Finally, Jub Jub has been arrested!”

In December 2021, during an interview with MacG on Podcast and Chill, the TV presenter discussed his relationship with actress Amanda du-Pont.

Following the interview, the Skeem Saam actress alleged in a video that the musician raped her multiple times for two years while they were together.

Following her video, he issued a public apology on his Instagram page but denied raping the media personality.

“It was inappropriate for me to discuss the intimate details of my relationship with Ms Du-Pont in public. I deeply regret the incident. I wish to apologise unreservedly to Amanda for the humiliation and hurt I caused her,” he wrote.

In 2010, the Ndikhokhele hitmaker caused a car crash which claimed the lives of four children and left two brain damaged. The hip hop artist was sentenced to 25 years behind bars in 2012. He was released on parole in January 2017.
